In Plain Sight - This delightfully frustrating activity is more of a game than an adventure but we decided to include it simply because it's a great deal of fun. It's a more-the-merrier activity as observers have most of the fun while the seeker has most of the frustration. |

The snickers and laughs are inevitable as most people will stare right through the object in question several times before ever finding it. If the hunter is really struggling, the whole room plays Hot or Cold, calling out, "warmer, warmer, hot, hotter" as the hunter gets close and, "cool, cold, colder" as the child moves away from the object. The conspiratorial nature of the game and the tendency of people to miss what's right in front of them time and time again make this game a delight to play and a great way to pass the time when there's nothing else to do. |
The objective is simple. Pick an object. Any fairly small object will do. A tennis ball or soda can will work fine. Everybody gathers in one room. A hunter and a hider are selected by whatever process works for you. The object is shown to the children and the hunter leaves the room. The hider must now place the object somewhere in the room. The object must be plainly visible (not hidden behind anything) but may otherwise be placed anywhere in the room. Once placed, the hunter is called back and must locate the object. |
